How to connect to a wireless access point

Note

• Please make sure to have the wireless switch turn to on for models that comes with a wireless hardware button.
  Refer to the user guide if you are unsure if your VAIO PC comes with a wireless hardware button
• internal dvd drive, Sony Blu-Ray Drive

• Please confirm that the Wi-Fi option is turn on within PC Settings

1. Display the Charms menu by placing the cursor on the top right hand corner or bottom right hand corner
2. Select “Settings”
3. Sony VAIO VPCS12M9E/B blu-ray drive, Sony VAIO VPCS12M9R/S blu-ray drive, Sony VAIO VPCS12V9E/B blu-ray drive
4. Select “Change PC settings”
5. Select the “Wireless” category
6. Confirm that the “Wi-Fi” is set to on

From the Charms menu

1. Display the Charms menu by placing the cursor on the top right hand corner or bottom right hand corner
2. Select “Settings”
3. Select the Wireless icon
4. Confirm that the “Airplane mode” is set to Off
   Please set it to off if it’s currently turned on
5. Select the prefer wireless network to connect
6. Place a checkmark to “Connect automatically” if you prefer to connect to this access point automatically
7. Select “Connect”
   Enter a passkey if prompted
8. Select the prefer sharing options:
   
   1. No, don’t turn on sharing or connect to device (For networks in public places)
   2. Sony VAIO VPCS12V9R/B blu-ray drive, Sony VAIO VPCS12X9E/B blu-ray drive
   3. Yes, turn on sharing and connect to devices (For home or work networks)

From the Desktop

1. Select the Wireless icon located to the right within the taskbar
2. Confirm that the “Airplane mode” is set to Off
   Please set it to off if it’s currently turned on
3. Select the prefer wireless network to connect
4. Place a checkmark to “Connect automatically” if you prefer to connect to this access point automatically
5. Select “Connect”
   Enter a passkey if prompted
6. Select the prefer sharing options:
1. No, don’t turn on sharing or connect to device (For networks in public places)
2. Sony VAIO VPCS12J1E/W BD-RE Blu-ray Burner, Sony VAIO VPCS12L9E/B BD-RE Blu-Ray Burner
3. Yes, turn on sharing and connect to devices (For home or work networks)
