Tips for Clean Blu-ray Drive

The easiest way to clean your Blu-ray player is to buy a lens cleaning disc. The lens cleaning disc does not need to say it is for blu-ray specifically, Replacement Internal Blu-ray drive will read CD, DVD and Blu-ray discs. This cleaning disc works by putting data sectors for the drive to read in a "cleaning track" on the disc. In this "cleaning track" you will find a small micro fiber brush which as the drive reads will brush off the dust on the lens and contains no cleaning solution.
When you start the CD, DVD, or Optiarc BC-5600S Blu-ray cleaner disc it will play some music or a small clip so you can determine if the drive needs to be cleaned. It will then give you instructions on what to do and how long to wait for the cleaning disc to finish. Once it's finished it will display a closing sample movie. This movie allows you to determine if the cleaning solved your problem. Occasionally you may have to run this disc more then once but this is rare.
If you don't have a warrant then get a couple screw drivers and put your thinking cap on. The screwdrivers you will most likely need are a Phillips standard #2 and a small jewelers screw driver. Depending on what kind of player you are working with the methods of removing it will change, but the drive itself will remain the same. As with any electrical device you need to be sure to turn the device off and unplug it before performing any maintenance. After all you may feel like Einstein now but you wouldn't want to look like him. Now look at your device if it's a computer Panasonic UJ-225 Blu-ray drive, removing it is as simple as opening the case, taking two or three screws out of the side of the drive, then sliding it out of the bay. If it is a set top Blu-ray player then it could be a bit different, but most likely you will find the screws to remove the case on the back of the player. Once you remove these screws the Blu-ray drive should be exposed.
There are times when a cleaning disc simply won't work. For instance if your lens is already so dirty it won't read the starting track, then you won't be able to use the Panasonic UJ235A disc. If this is the case there is only one solution. You have to open the case. before proceeding here check if you have a manufactures warranty. If you have a warranty then just send it back and get it replaced free or for cost of shipping.

MY Pioneer BDC-TD01 BD-ROM not Working on Windows 7

Questions: MY Pioneer BDC-TD01 bd-rom drive not Working on Windows 7?
Answers:
Stage 1 : Please do all the below even if you have done some before as it is often the total process which solves the issue.
Try this - Control Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click the device - Driver's Tab - click Update Drivers (this will likely do nothing) - then RIGHT CLICK the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if drive is not shown continue below.
Then work your way through these - remember the drive could be bad, could have a loose cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.
Pioneer BDC-TD01RS bd-rom drive, Pioneer BDC-TD01VA bd-rom drive, Pioneer BDC-TD02VA bd-rom drive, Panasonic UJ235A bd-re drive
Stage 2 : You could have drive issues as the CD/DVD is actually 4 drives in 1 case ( CD & DVD burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 parts to not function while the others do so properly.
Did you complete the troubleshooter for the drive that still does not work? There are some registry entries that the troubleshooter does not fix and those "might" be the cause.
Check with your System Maker and Device maker for both possible firmware updates and the correct Registry entries for your drive.
These are the keys I think are the ones in question - for the CD/DVD drive sub-keys of course as there will other sub-keys in these keys. Be sure to ask for specific keys involved as well as the settings.
Note: Running a check disk may take a bit depending on the size of the selected hard disk. For faster and better results, do not use your computer while check disk is checking for errors. You will have a choice to scan only, scan for and attempt to fix errors, scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or scan for and attempt to fix errors and recovery of bad sectors.

News: With a few tweaks to 3PAR, HP might crash all-flash array party

Blocks and Files Taking HP statements at face value, it would seem its flash array storage strategy is to extend its StorServe (3PAR InServ) disk-based storage arrays into the all-flash array world. This would mean taking on flash array start-ups like Pure Storage, SolidFire and Whiptail and facing down tech giant EMC - with its coming XtremIO product - and IBM, with its TMS RamSan line. Can this unique strategy work? In October last year, HP said: "HP 3PAR is our strategic direction for solid state storage." At that time we commented "HP's strategy may involve extending the 3PAR array controller software to better manage a set of SSD resources." We now believe this to be pretty much a certainty. The company already has an all-flash version of the 3PAR P10000 InServ array, which delivers P10000 model 800 performance in IOPS terms, based on using 1,900 300GB 15,000rpm disk drives, but using 512 solid state drives (SSDs) instead, and at 70 per cent less cost. The 3PAR operating system is focused on storing block data on disk drives and does not contain facilities for storing data on SSDs unless the little beggars pretend to be disks. You can get much more performance, and endurance, from an all-flash array if you: a) treat blocks on flash as blocks on flash and not disk blocks and b) reduce the number of writes to delay the flash wear out point. El Reg believes that HP is extending the StorServ OS to do this, to better use flash as a raw storage resource, also to be ready to use Memristor storage - which may be ready in 2014. Recent statements by HP's storage head, David Scott, support this idea. In a TechTarget interview he said: "Today we have all-SSD solutions for StoreServ. In the future, we expect to seamlessly transition to all-flash and nonvolatile memory storage on 3PAR." The 3PAR ASIC uses a 16KB page or block size ands this means, Scott says, it's extensible to handling flash. We're looking at a next-generation 3PAR ASIC that can handle solid state storage along with InServ OS extensions to do the same, with the aim of delivering comparable or better performance than start-up and/or stand-alone all-flash arrays. By having the StorServ OS extended to handle flash in its native state, the array uses will get all-flash array performance plus enterprise-class data protection and management facilities and, potentially, great connectivity to disk-based P10000 arrays for bulk data storage and data migration - with hot blocks sent to the all-flash product and cooler blocks (in data access rate terms) sent to the disk vault. HP's sub-LUN automated tiering could be used for this. This is something that none of the stand-alone all-flash array products can do and is a beautiful strategy. We expect HP to debut its flash-extended StorServ ASIC and OS some time this year. ®

HP Envy X2 PC Review

The new HP ENVY x2 PC gives you the power of two devices in one. A Windows 8 notebook with a bright, vivid HD Touch display.1 And a tablet that slides off for those times when you want to carry even less.

DVD Drive for HP 517850-001, DVD Drive for HP 535816-001, DVD Drive for HP 538406-001
---------
Pros: Sharp colorful screen; Attractive lightweight design; Long battery life with dock
Cons: Stiff uncomfortable typing experience; Netbook-level performance; Mediocre battery life without dock
The Verdict: The HP Envy x2 offers long battery life and a responsive Windows 8 touch experience in a lightweight hybrid design, but you get netbook-like performance.

Despite The Envy x2's modest 1366 x 768 resolution, its 11.6-inch screen provided sharp images and rich colors. Whether we were staring at the lively yellow and white flowers in Windows 8's default daisy wallpaper or gawking at the lush red and blue costumes in a 1080p Quicktime trailer for "The Avengers," colors appeared particularly vibrant.

Slide a little tab, and the whole upper lid does, indeed, undock and becomes its own multi-touch tablet. But, at $849, it's more expensive than most ultraportable laptops and tablets...and far more expensive than those little, non-touch, non-detachable-screened 11-inchers of old. You're paying for style, and also for that clever split-function feature. And the concern about the x2 versus the MacBook Air, or x2 versus the Surface Pro, still stands.
A modest but thoroughly practical Windows 8 product with the latest dual-core Intel Atom and an 11.6in, 1366 x 768 IPS touchscreen. Tempting for those who can't choose between a tablet and an Ultrabook.

HP Compaq 6530b Notebook PC

The HP Compaq 6530b is a solid, standard-issue all-purpose laptop that houses a thoughtfully arranged software bundle that will quickly help you get down to business.
The HP Compaq 6530b HP Compaq 480459-002 DVD Drive makes a pretty strong case for itself as a useful business box. The laptop has some speed where it counts, and doesn't cost an exorbitant amount of money. Its display is still a bit of a downer, but we suppose something was going to get short shrift to keep the price low.
Between its durability and incredibly robust software applications, HP's 6530b makes a pretty strong case for itself as a useful business box. The laptop has some speed where it counts, and doesn't cost an exorbitant amount of money. Its HP-Compaq 480461-001 BD-ROM Drive display is still a bit of a downer, but I suppose something was going to get short shrift to keep the price low. If you're on the hunt for a business laptop, you might want to check out Lenovo's SL400, a fairly evenly matched (though slightly more expensive) machine.
The 6530b earned a mark of 81 -- not too shabby, and close to the Lenovo ThinkPad SL400's score of 84. (The SL400 costs about $100 more.) In battery life, too, the 6530b HP-Compaq 486262-001 DVD Drive is no slouch, lasting for about 4 hours, 22 minutes in our tests. That result fell shy of the SL400's running time of 5 hours, 8 minutes, but the great thing is that this HP-Compaq 488747-001 DVDRW Drive laptop is a lot lighter: The 6530b weighs 5.3 pounds, while the beefy SL400 is 6.1 pounds.
Withe the HP Compaq 6530b will you be able to view your pictures and watch the occasional DVD on your next flight? Yes, but the video won't pop as much as it might on a glossy panel. That's the trade-off you make with any matte screen: the colours are less vivid, but the screen is viewable in any lighting condition. This particular panel, however, is a touch dim even when compared with similar matte screens.

My Dell BD Drive reads bluray but won't read dvds

So I have had this external BD drive for around a year. It is Dell Inspiron 15 3520 blu-ray drive It has decided to stop reading DVDs. I have tried it on multiple computers with multiple dvds. It has no issue with blu-rays though. Any ideas? What happens when you insert a disc? Light blink? Error message? Also, what firmware version do you have on the drive. I'd say run through a couple of checks and if it doesn't appear to be software related, you may just need to get the drive replaced. Dell Inspiron 15 N5050 blu-ray drive burner So what version of Windows are you running? So I am runnIng windows 7 64-bit. This has not changed. When I put a bluray in we are good to go. When I put a DVD in the light comes on the drive spins up but after about 7 seconds Dell Inspiron 14R 5420 blu-ray drive drive stops and nothing. No error unless you click on the drive and then it reports no disc present. I was running v1.07 went to 1.06 and then back to 1.07. Dell Inspiron 1428 blu-ray drive Each time I tried the DVD and still no joy. I used the plexutilities app to test the drive, laser, etc and all was good. Very confused. These discs do work in other drives just not my plextor. Nothing. Changed to my system to my knowledge but something can always happen with windows. Dell Inspiron 1427 blu-ray drive. Can you bring up the properties for the drive under the device manager? Check to see that the DVD REGION has been set. Also, click on the driver tab and click on driver details. List the driver file entrieds that show up. DELL INSPIRON 15 N5050 BLU-RAY DRIVE BURNER WON'T READ DVDS
